SSC Stenographer GRADE C & D EXAM 2017 Recruitment Notification Released SSC :-
A stenographer is a skilled worker or typist who can type the short hand and verbatim script for an official task. It is a kind of work that requires high consideration and care of application while working and it is done on a special machine.
The usual task of Stenographer is to develop transcripts and documents of short hand scripts by typing the matter in real time.
Stenographers are usually assigned to the offices and services of Courts, ministries, parliaments and Assemblies where transcripts are to be developed in real time.
But stenographers can also be assigned to work in different offices, film subtitles making and transcripts of legal or telephonic conversations.
The SSC or Staff Selection Commission conducts the national and state level examination for the selection and recruitment of Stenographers across various departments under Central government. The position is of Grade ‘C’ and ‘D’ stenographers.
Application Process to apply for SSC Stenographer Exam :-
The eligible candidates, who wish to apply for the SSC Stenographer exam, need to register and fill up the online application form which in mentioned below in Register online Part.
Only online applications will be considered. Candidates will need to fill in the factual details and submit it before the last date of submission.
Candidates are highly advised to read the official notification for proper instructions and information about the SSC Stenographer Grade C and Grade D Exam.
The official notification is out on 17 June 2017.
After successful submission of the online application form, the eligible candidates will be issued with the admit card to appear in the exam which will be downloaded from the official portal of SSC.
Eligibility Criteria for the SSC Stenographer Grade C and Grade D Examination:-
Candidates, who fulfill the following requirements, are eligible to apply and appear for the SSC Stenographer Grade C and Grade D examination. The SSC Stenographer Eligibility criteria is as follows:-
- A candidate must be Indian citizen to apply.
- Candidates who are nationals of Nepal/Bhutan or a Tibetan refugee, who migrated to India before 1962 to permanently settle in India conditioned they are issued a recognition certificate from the Indian Government.
SSC Stenographer Age Limit :-
The age limit for the applicant is strictly as,
- The minimum age is 18 years old to a maximum of 27 years old in age for candidates of General/Unreserved category as on August 1st, 2017.
- Relaxation of 5 years provided: Candidates of SC/ST category and candidates of Ex-servicemen category and EEOs/SSCOs, rendering at least 5 years of military service.
- Relaxation of 3 years provided: Candidates of OBC category and Defence services personnel, relieved yet served at least 5 years in defence services.
- Relaxation of 10 years provided: Blind, Deaf/Mute and orthopedically handicapped candidates.
Minimum Educational Qualifications:-
Candidates who possess the minimum educational qualifications are eligible to apply and appear in the Civil Services examinations. That is:-
- Candidates must have cleared/passed a higher secondary level or 12th class equivalent examination from a recognized State/Central board of education.
- Candidates appearing for the higher secondary examination and/or awaiting results are also eligible conditioned they will have to present the proof of passing such examination on/before January 1st, 2018 to the authorities.
- Degree holders are eligible to apply.
Stenographer Grade C and Grade D Standard Requirement:-
Candidates must ensure to have at least a short hand speed of 100 words per minute in English and 80 words per minute in Hindi, to be able to score.

Application Fee for the SSC Stenographer Exam :-
The application fee for SSC stenographer exam is Rs. 100/- (Rupees one hundred only) for the General/OBC candidates. Payment can be made online through net banking or credit/debit cards.
A deposit of fee in any SBI branch can also be made as payment of fee. There is no fee for the female candidates, SC/ST/PH/ Ex-servicemen candidates i.e. they are exempted from payment of fee.
Fee once paid won’t be refunded under any condition.
SSC Stenographer Exam: Scheme, Selection Process and Syllabus :-
Exam Scheme and Selection Process :-
The SSC Stenographer examination consists of a twofold selection process. It consists of two stages of examination for the selection and recruitment of the Grade ‘C’ and ‘D’ stenographers for the Government of India.
Stage I: Written Examination :-
The Stage I of selection for SSC Stenographer will comprise of a written paper carrying questions from multiple subjects and topics to test and assess the knowledge and awareness of education among the candidates.
This examination will be of Computer based exam mode and consist of Objective type (MCQ) questions throughout.
The paper will be made of General Awareness, English language and Comprehension. It will consist of a total of 200 questions with maximum of 200 marks and time duration of 2 hours to complete the paper.
Stage II: Skill Test :-
Candidate who will qualify and pass the Stage I aka written examination for the SSC Stenographer will then be called for the Skills test.
Here the candidates will have to show their ability to type short hand with an average speed of 100 WPM in English and 80 WPM in Hindi on the machine.
