What is SSC CHSL Exam or Combined Higher Secondary Level Exam :-
The CHSL or Combined Higher Secondary Level examination is a national level examination conducted by the Staff Selection Commission or SSC every year, to recruit or Select the candidates for the Following Posts which are as follows :-
- Lower divisional clerk (LDC),
- Data Entry Operator (DEO),
- Court Clerks,
- Posting and Sorting Assistants.
The SSC conducts the CHSL examination to select the personnel to work as positions above across various ministries, departments and offices under then Government of India.
How To Apply or Application Process For the SSC CHSL Examination:-
To Apply for the SSC CHSL examination, the eligible candidates are required to register and fill up the online application form which can be found on the official SSC.NIC.IN which is operated by SSC.

Eligibility Criteria For SSC CHSL Examination :-
Candidates, who full fill the following Eligibility Criteria and Eligibility requirements, are eligible to apply and appear for the SSC CHSL examination. The SSC CHSL Exam Eligibility Criteria is as follows:-
General Eligibility Criteria For SSC CHSL Exam :-
- A candidate must be Indian citizen,
- Candidates can be residents of Nepal/Bhutan or a Tibetan refugee, who came before 1962 to permanently reside in India conditioned they are issued a recognition certificate from the Indian Government.
Age Limit For SSC CHSL Examination :-
The age limit for SSC CHSL Exam applicant is strictly as,
- The minimum age is 18 years old to a maximum of 27 years old in age for candidates of General/Unreserved category as on January 1st, 2017.
- Relaxation of 5 years provided: Candidates of SC/ST category and candidates of Ex-servicemen category and EEOs/SSCOs, rendering at least 5 years of military service.
- Relaxation of 3 years provided: Candidates of OBC category and Defense services personnel, relieved yet served at least 5 years in defense services.
- Relaxation of 10 years provided: Blind, Deaf/Mute and orthopedic handicapped candidates.
SSC CHSL Exam Educational Qualifications:-
Candidates who possess the minimum educational qualifications are eligible to apply and appear in the Combined Higher Secondary Level examination, That is :-
- Candidates must have cleared/passed a higher secondary level or 12th class equivalent examination from a recognized State/Central board of education.
- Candidates appearing for the higher secondary examination and/or awaiting results are also eligible conditioned they will have to present the proof of passing such examination on/before January 1st, 2018 to the authorities.
- Degree holders are eligible to apply.

The eligible candidates from the General/OBC category will need to pay a total of Rs. 100/- (Rupees one hundred only) as a fee for application.
The payment can be made either through a SBI bank deposit challan in any branch of SBI all over India or online payment modes as Net banking or credit/debit cards payments.
The female candidates and candidates of SC/ST/PH category and ex-servicemen are exempted from any kind of fee payments. They don’t have to pay any fee for application.

SSC CHSL Exam Pattern & CHSL Exam Scheme and Selection Process :-
The SSC CHSL examination is based on the stages of selection/recruitment. It consists of three different stages for the selection.
SSC CHSL Tier I Examination (Objective Type paper)
CHSL Tier II Examination (Subjective Type paper)
SSC CHSL Tier III Examination (Typing/Skills Test).
Eligible candidates will have to take the CHSL Tier I examination which is only in the Computer based examination mode and consists of Objective type questions from a number of subjects and topics, assessing the knowledge of the candidates in the fields of studies as well as general knowledge.
CHSL Tier I examination will contain a total of 200 marks and a time duration of 75 minutes.
Candidates who will pass/clear the CHSL Tier I examination, will then be issued admit cards for the Tier II examination.
CHSL Tier II examination will consists of the subjective level questionnaire. Candidates will have to write essays, precise, letters or applications in the CHSL Tier II examination, which will assess the awareness to Communication and comprehension as well as current topics.
The exam will be of secondary or matriculation level. CHSL Tier II examination will consist of total 100 marks and allowed time duration of 1 hour.
Be advised that there will be a negative marking of 0.50 marks on every wrong answer.
Candidates then clearing/passing the SSC CHSL Tier II examination, will then be called for a final stage or SSC CHSL Tier III examination, which is nothing but a typing test or skills tests.
In SSC CHSL Tier III, candidates will have to show their skills in computer operations (8000 depressions of keys/hour) for Data entry operators and in typing skills (35 wpm in English and 30 wpm in Hindi) in a given time limit (20 minutes) for Postal Assistant/Sorting assistants.
Candidates clearing all the three stages i.e. SSC CHSL Tier I, II and III of the SSC CHSL will then be selected as the Government personnel who will then be called for the practical training and learning. After successful completion of training, the candidates will be assigned to the respective departments, services and/or offices under the Government of India on the aforementioned positions.
